Families' writings about and to their Loved One
Dear Incarcerated Population,
Society-First would like to present our vision to the inmate population as we are an organization that seeks to bring true reform to the world around us, including the incarcerated. Unlike many of the other reform advocates, Society-First's primary focus is identifying the reforms that will put society first.
We do believe that almost everyone who strives to amend for wrongs they once committed deserves an opportunity to find such redemption. Though we put society first this does not mean we put the incarcerated last. It is our belief that our system is broken, and the need for progressive reform is without question.
Many loved ones are impacted by the incarceration of just one person. Children's lives are instantaneously uprooted and flipped upside down, their identity comes into question. Parents' lives are torn apart and many fall into the arms of hopelessness and helplessness as they try to search for ways to help. Spouses grow weary, lonely, and depressed as half of them were ripped from their insides, never to be experienced in the same way, sometimes ever again.
Some of these loved ones have shared their stories and writings with us. This page is dedicated to sharing their hearts, their stories, their lives as those who continue fighting daily for the hope of being with their loved one who is incarcerated again.
